Arkansas is both culturally rich as well as endowed with many natural resources. Arkansas has a mix of outdoor and historical attractions. Hot Springs National Park has a rich history that is almost as hot and steamy as its bathhouses. Crystal Bridges Museum visitors are often struck by the lush Ozark landscapes around the five decades-old American art.

There are plenty of interesting places in Arkansas.

Hot Springs National Park

Hot springs found in the Ouachita Mountains are a long-standing source of interest for people who live in the area. American Indians believed they had healing properties. While the park was founded in 1921, many visitors have been coming here since much earlier.

Many of the park’s bathhouses are beautiful and still in use today. There are many attractions in the park including an observation tower, trails for hiking, and ample opportunities to enjoy the various hot springs that make this retreat a natural one.

Arkansas Air Museum

Arkansas Air Museum, Fayetteville, displays a range of 1930s and 1920s racing planes as well as biplanes. It also has information on the history military aviation and civilian flight. The museum is located in an aircraft hangar built in 1940s.

Many of these vintage aircraft are in excellent flying condition. A large collection of military vehicles and artifacts from air racing’s Golden Age is among the permanent exhibits at the museum.

The tribute will also include Louise McPhetridge – the second-most well-known American female pilot – who was born in Bentonville.

Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site

This historic school was the birthplace of desegregation. Nineteen black teenagers were transported by the Army to their first day in school, which was held here in 1957. This was an important moment in Civil Rights Movement history.

Little Rock Central High School has over 2,500 students. It is not only a historic location. A ranger-led tour is the only way to visit Little Rock Central High School. This tour must be booked at minimum 24 hours in advance.

Crater for Diamonds State Park

Crater for Diamonds State Park can be found in southwestern Arkansas. It’s just a short drive away from Murfreesboro. Since 1906, 75,000 diamonds have been found, including the Strawn-Wagner Diamond.

There are still diamonds available today, in every color possible. Anything you find in the Crater of diamonds you can keep. It was designated a Arkansas state parks in 1972. The park includes a museum, a water play area, and a campground with 52 sites. 47 are fully connected with water/hydro/sewer hookups.

William J. Clinton Presidential Library and Museum

The Clinton Presidential Center can be found at Little Rock’s Arkansas River edge. It is surrounded with a 28-acre, public park. It acts as a library and museum for the president, as well as hosting occasional events.

Permanent and rotating exhibits give insight into the lives and careers of the 42nd president. The Arkansas River bridges inspired the idea of the building. It can be described as a bridge between past and future.

Christ of the Ozarks

The Christ of the Ozarks stands tall on Magnetic Mount in Eureka Springs and is one of the most well-known tourist attractions in Arkansas.

The monument is a landmark in Arkansas, standing at 67 feet tall. It has been there for more than 50 year. It can be seen almost from every corner.

The park-like atmosphere of the complex where the statue is situated has plenty of parking spaces as well as pedestrian paths above and beneath the monument. A section of Berlin Wall is also on display nearby.

The Great Passion Play is another attraction located near the Christ of the Ozarks. It’s a combination of many tourist attractions that can be combined into one trip. The outdoor theater is very popular and can be seen from Good Friday in March through October. The Great Passion Play shows are staged in the outdoor amphitheater. It features dramatic lighting and live animals.

Thorncrown Chapel

Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs is one of the most popular attractions. This unique glass and wood structure is located in beautiful natural woodland. The walls of high glass look out at the surrounding forest and give you the feeling that you are right there. This is a popular spot in Arkansas for weddings.

The chapel measures 48 feet in height and features more than 6000 square feet of glass across 425 windows. Sunday services are held at 9:00 and 11:00 am during the summer. There is also a winter service at 11:00 AM.

Donations are appreciated and admission is free. Tourists are encouraged not to come during the operating hours.
