Beginning Phase
It was year 2003 , I was playing my inter-district tournament for Sporting -Union . At the final of tournament Amitabh Chaudhary came as chief guest for the tournament . That was the first time I heard the name “Dhoni”. Out of curiosity I asked my senior “who is he “.My Senior replied he is going to be our first player of Jharkhand to represent Indian national cricket team . Senior told how swashbuckling player dhoni is going to be . He was unperturbed , extremely confident player . At that also I had realized that Dhoni will be the same even if out on zero or scores a century . I think coming from Jharkhand with limited cricketing infrastructure he had nothing to loose that made him so strong mentally.
ODI Debut in Bangladesh
It was December 2004 , MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI finally broke the ice and made into final eleven at Chittagong playing against Bangladesh. India was 180/5 in 41st over when Dhoni came into bat .it was ideal situation for him to make the mark . But the script was written differently in his life . Md. Rafique bowled a delivery on leg stump and dhoni turned it around toward the short fine leg and called for single but in the midway of the run he was sent back and “GOT RUN OUT “ for Zero.

First ODI Century
It was April -2005 , India was playing a bilateral series against Pakistan . In the first match at Kochi . MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI didn’t got much of chance to Score runs and india the match after Sehwag scored a century. Then came the Second ODI at Vizag , India has won the Toss and elected to bat .India cruised to 26 run but then Sachin got run -out unfortunately. Out of surprise to everyone Dhoni came to bat at No. 3 , Ganguly gave him his number. Another example of leadership of Ganguly . At that day history was about to be written .It was Dhoni first century in ODI and came off just 88 balls. He smashed 15 fours and 4 brutal sixes in his innings of 148 which came in 123 balls and is one of Dhoni best innings in ODI . Dhoni never Looked back from there , He built from Strength to strength.
First Test Century
India went to Pakistan for a bilateral series , First match at Lahore was drawn . Then, Came 2nd Test match at faislabad. Pakistan won the toss and bat first , with help of centuries from Shahid Afridi and Inzamam-ul-Haq. Pakistan scored rather a tough target of 588 Runs India was cruising at 265/4, Still trailing by 323 run and 123 run to avoid the follow on, then came Dhoni into bat with Sachin already settled at other end . Till this point of time everyone was doubting his ability at Test level due to his uncanny technique , a technique of his own . I am remember Vivian Richard saying “ Cricket is nothing but See the ball and hit the ball “. Dhoni was like that only unperturbed, undaunted still very effective in his own way . This test match was special Shoaib Akhtar was firing all Cylinders bowling at more than 90 MPHS , Bowling short stuff at his helmet . Dhoni recalls that one bouncer was so fast that he didn’t even see that , but after that Dhoni was on his own flurry , he started hitting from middle and stroking it well . then , Came his first century against the likes of Shoaid Akhtar , Arshad khan.
First T-20 World cup : Dhoni Captaincy
India was down and dusted at 50 over world cup , it was big blow on Indian cricket to that extent that Sachin Tendulkar thought of Call it a day. On recommendation of Sachin Tendulkar , Dhoni was made captain of young team with stalwart Sourav ganguly , Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul dravid preferring to opt of the tournament. India won against the Pakistan in ball-out. In the next match India had set back against New-Zealand and lost by 10 runs . But after that India never looked back in that Tournament Yuvraj Singh , Gautam Gambhir and Sehwag was in the supreme form . Then came 6 sixes of yuvraj singh against England . India announced that they there to win the tournament. Eventually , India got to the final aginst arch rival Pakistan , India won the toss scored 157 runs. Pakistan with heroics of Misbah -ul-haq reached to 146/9 in 19th over. Final over to bowl Dhoni has to choose between Joginder Sharma playing his first tournament and Harbhajan Singh . Dhoni choose former for the task . Joginder Sharma came into ball, First misbah lofted him over extra cover for six , there was panic amongst 1 Billion people glued to TV . Next ball Joginder to misbah , Out of the blue Misbah tried to scoop joginder over fine leg , Sreesanth came underneath the hopes of the billion of Indian . Misbah caught at fine leg bringing cheers to billions. India won by 5 runs against Pakistan creating history . Dhoni stamped his arrival as captain to the world . Once again T-shirt came off but this time in rather in gentle manner , Dhoni gave his T-shirt to kid and Sign -off with team at front and gave the young -Turks to enjoy the moment with him standing at back and enjoying the happiness of the team .He made it clear that History would see a rather a unconventional captain , a captain not bothered by situations or opponents. MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI has announced the great times Indian team going under his captaincy .
