El Cerrito : Top 7 Best Places To Visit in El Cerrito, California

El Cerrito

El Cerrito is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. It is part of the San Francisco Bay Area, and has a population of 25,962. It was founded in 1917 as a community for the displaced residents of the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. Originally, the city was just a small settlement of around 1,500 people. In 1917, the city became a incorporated city. Today, the city is a major business center, home to many Fortune 500 companies.

During the early days, El Cerrito was a town of only 1500 people and no fire protection or police protection. In 1917, it incorporated to raise money for services. One of the first things the city did was implement a street paving program. The city’s main thoroughfare was San Pablo Avenue, and it connected with Fairmount Avenue and Potrero Avenue. A few years later, the city was incorporated as a village. The name El Cerrito means “little hill” in Spanish.

Although El Cerrito, California is an incorporated city, it was only recently reorganized into a charter city. El Cerrito has a Council-Manager form of local government, with five elected at-large for four-year terms and a Mayor selected for a one-year term. The City Council appoints the City Manager, who oversees all municipal affairs. A city attorney is also appointed by the council.

Arlington Park #1

After years of trouble, Arlington Park is finally closing its doors. Many say that the closing is bittersweet. After all, the facility has seen better days. But the grandstand is still one of the wonders of North American racing. But the park has been a thorn in the side of the racing community, and the closure of its iconic Arlington Park racetrack is certainly a sad time. A moving truck, people, and horses will be needed to get them out.

While Chicago’s Bears have no interest in running horse racing at Arlington, other investors have expressed interest. One of those investors is Endeavor Properties, which entered a purchase agreement with Arlington in September. While the Bears are evaluating the proposal, they’d like to close the deal by 2022 or 2023. Chicago Bears senior vice president of marketing Scott Hagel has made it clear that the team does not want to run any races at the track.

There is still a chance that Arlington Park will be used for another purpose, such as a baseball stadium. The track has been used for horse races for nearly a century, but it is now facing an uncertain future. It’s a bittersweet goodbye for the hundreds of people who work at the track and for the horsemen who train their horses there. But as the park is closing, the horse owners and enthusiasts are remembering fondly the time they spent at Arlington Park.
